The Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference
So in case you hadn't heard, I decided to have a conference here in Chicago. The Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference It's nothing like throwing a cocktail party! I seem to be the only one amused by saying that, and certainly I am the only one surprised. Thank goodness I partnered with Ethical Metalsmiths, and the Columbia College Fashion Department we have made a wonderful team! It has been so much work but it has also beeen a lot of fun.
I wanted to have a conference to spread the gospel of sustainable sourcing and responsible practices in the jewelry industry. We have the unique opportunity within the jewelry world to positively effect the lives of others in many developing countries. One single piece jewelry could have FairMined Gold from Columbia, Fair Trade Sapphires Malawi, and ethically sourced gems from Kenya. We have a supply chain of partners that we are responsible to. The Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference has the best and most inspiring speakers, who are experts in Responsible Jewelry practices, please see the full line up and register here: The Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference . The dates are October 13th and 14th at Film Cinema Row, Columbia College. Also, check out the Ethical Metalsmith's auction to help fund the conference, so many very generous donations, thank you!!! Bid, bid now, we need your support!
The auction feathers amazing jewelry, gems and vacation homes! There are pieces by Todd Pownell, Yes, I want it!
These incredible earrings by Melissa Joy Manning, I love these!
And this amazing garnet donated by ANZA, I volunteer to design jewelry with it!!
I hope to see everyone there, it will be inspiring informative, and fun!
Thanks, Susan
